More than 20% of all water used by US households is estimated to be for doing laundry. A load of laundry takes an average of one hour and 27 minutes, which takes into account washing and drying. About 20% of laundry loads in the US are washed again because of dissatisfaction with the result, with men being more likely than women to rewash a load of laundry.
